Food Service
Food Service
- The goal of the food service is to provide all our residents with a pleasant, enjoyable, and safe meal experience that is as similar as possible to that of their home. Three meals and two snacks are offered daily. All three meals of the day are served in the dining rooms of each unit, which provides a more welcoming atmosphere and allows residents to socialize during mealtimes. The meals offered at the home are based on local eating habits and consider the preferences, tastes, and requests of our residents. Menu items are posted in each unit of the home for residents and families.
Dietetic Service
Dietetic service
- Clinical nutrition services are available to all residents to meet their nutritional needs. All nutritional interventions are in accordance with long-term care dietary standards and are supervised by a registered dietitian.
- A rotating menu considers therapeutic diets, allergies, intolerances, dysphagia, tastes and preferences of the resident, while following Canada’s Food Guide. The menu is also modified during special holidays and according to seasonal food availability.
- A nutritional assessment is carried out following admission, as well as regular follow-ups to ensure that nutritional needs are met. The dietitian works in collaboration with the doctor, the registered nurse and other members of the team to ensure quality service. Dietary changes are communicated to the residents, their family, the physician, and other staff as needed. The dietitian works collaboratively with the Food Service Manager on menu planning.
